Farncombe Stacking Church Bench

Farncombe Stacking Church Bench
Project Details
The Farncombe Stacking Church Bench was designed as a flexible, stacking seating system for congregations that want to clear the worship space to allow for a variety of other activities such as Messy Church, Pilates and music.
Our most recent project using this style of seating was in St Matthew’s Church, Chadderton. The combination of stackable, upholstered chairs and benches can easily be moved and stacked to create space.
- Mortise and tenon joints, with cross-pinning, which ensures the bench is firmly held together
Only the highest-quality materials are used, from the sustainably sourced timber to the in-house manufactured links.
We have a vast selection of some 1,200 fabrics to choose from, from tweeds and moquettes to leathers and dralons.
Seven benches can be stacked on flat ground, or 10 on a special trolley.
- Brass linking mechanisms lock the seats in a straight line.
- This is a relatively new link system that we devised for this type of seating, which allows people to sit between units without loss of comfort.
- Bookshelves
- Hassocks
- Hassock hooks
- Arms (still stacks with arms)
- Solid seat and framed back
- Solid seat and panelled back – as in St Matthew’s Church, Chadderton
- Upholstered seat and solid back
“ICS showed that they had an instinctive understanding for the aesthetics of the building and the needs of the congregation, and designed furniture for us which was both practical and attractive”
Rev James Rattue,
Rector, St John’s Parish Church, Farncombe, Surrey
