ICS Complete first project in Germany

ICS are proud to present one of our latest projects recently installed in the Seminary of St Peter, Wigratzbad, Opfenbach, Southern Germany. Built in the 1980s as a traditional Seminary with a small chapel on the second floor it was rapidly outgrown by the number of students. Three years ago the Rector engaged with Architect Mr. Anthony Delarue to rethink the chapel design. It was enlarged by incorporating some adjacent rooms, and the roof shape and windows modified to give symmetry and improve the acoustics. A gallery was constructed at the west end to house an organ and provide a dozen additional places.

Working with Architect Anthony Delarue, ICS manufactured, delivered and installed 72 tiered choir stalls in European Oak with carved gothic details. Matching panelling to the walls has greatly enhanced not just the space but also the acoustics. Below the gallery, outside the choir, is seating with matching oak communion rails for the Noviciate and guests.

Designed in the renaissance style and manufactured in European Oak with gilded details, the main altar consists of the cantilevered canopy, classical tabernacle and centred above is the revolving throne for exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

In addition to the main altar the chapel also houses two side altars for daily masses. The side altars accommodate antique statues of Our Lady and St Joseph.

“As always, we here in ICS are proud of the enormous team effort this project took from start to finish. We are humbled by the incredible feedback which we have received from those in St Peter’s. We were honoured to get the opportunity to work with Architect Anthony Delarue once again and we wish all those in St Peter’s the very best in their beautiful new chapel.”
